Course Description

This course covers installation, calibration, and maintenance of measurement devices.

An examination of the devices used in measurement and control systems, such as PID (Proportional, Integral, and Derivative) controllers, transmitters, transducers, and recorders are covered.

Topics include:  loop characteristics, test equipment, calibration, and configuration, maintenance and installation, working in hazardous locations, and trends. Reading and interpreting advanced Piping and Instrument Drawings (P&ID) will also be included.

This course reviews and then build upon the concepts of proportional, integral and derivative control with advanced topics such as cascade, ratio and feed-forward control being covered.

Various methods of controller tuning are reviewed and practiced. Control loop troubleshooting techniques for single-loop and multi-loop systems are included. A review of reading and interpreting advanced Piping and Instrument Drawings (P&ID) is also covered.
