Course Description

This course is for engineering and electrical maintenance personnel responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting AC Crane Controls that utilize the IMPULSE AC Drives.

Topics include: Crane Safety-Lockout, Variable Frequency Drives, Flux Vector Drives, Bridge Drive and Motor, Trolley Drive and Motor, Main Hoist Drive and Motor, Eddy Current Brakes, Setup and tuning the IMPULSE AC Drive, Parameterization of the IMPULSE AC Drive, and troubleshooting Drive and motor problems.

Lab exercises include: Familiarization of the IMPULSE AC Drive hardware including the diode front end, the DC Buss, and the output power section, wiring up the power sections, wiring up the I/O, setting up the initial parameters, tuning the drive, programming the drive, and troubleshooting drive issues.
