Course Description
This course gives an overview of the initial phases of steel making; beginning with Coke production, and other ingredients fed into a blast furnace to make iron.
This course comprises topics including: furnace operation, and the conversion of iron into steel.
Additional topics include: continuous casters that make slabs, which will then be rolled into a hot band at the hot strip mill, equipment names, and various terms unique to the entire process.
